5th International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival PDF Print E-mail

The International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival Gran Canaria celebrates its fifth year between 15 and 24 January 2010. A total of 40 gay-themed productions make up the schedule of this event which aims to "promote respect for diversity by showing emotional reality of gays and lesbians from all over the world, in the key of comedy, drama, suspense or action," according the organization.

 

 

Titles like Eating Out and The Big Gay Musical are part of the offer of the event. In this edition, the festival keeps its usual three venues, which include the Center for Initiatives of La Caja de Canarias (CICC), Centro Insular de Turismo in CC Yumbo, Playa del English, and the Teatro Municipal Juan Ramón Jiménez, in Telde. Moreover, new this year, hot sessions held on 21, 22 and 23 in Disco Heaven in Playa del English.
 
Among the side events, Friday 22 at the Centro Insular de Turismo will present the book Adolescents with sexual diversity, homophobia in schools. 
 
The jury will be responsible for awarding prizes for Best Feature, Best Short Film, Best Actor and Best Actress, and other awards.
