Gay Pride 2006 - May 8th - 13th

WEDNESDAY 10TH MAY - 10:00 - 17:00
Official Gay Pride opening, with a barbeque, in a spectacular setting in the mountains. This will feature traditional Canarian entertainment and food, as well as a DJ and dance area, a bar, and the venue also has a pool. Tickets for this event are limited, but can be pre booked at 25 euros, by registering at the G.L.A.Y. office underneath the main stage in the Yumbo centre every day from the 1st of May between 5 and 8pm (8th and 9th of May till 10pm) or here by e-mail to (Glay-GC@hotmail.com ). The ticket price includes the barbeque, and transport to and from the venue. If any tickets remain after pre booking, they will be made available on the day of the event, at 30 euros, so register and pre book!

WEDNESDAY 10TH MAY - 21:00 to FINISH
”Rocky Horror Picture show” – interactive Cinema at San Fernando Cultural Centre. THURSDAY 11TH MAY - 21:00 - 22:30
A new evening concert has been added to this years programme, to benefit Amigo’s Contra el Sida ( Friends against AIDS), which is our local AIDS/HIV charity. It is intended to be an opportunity to remember friends and loved ones we have lost. Amigos Contra el Sida will be selling candles during the course of the evening, which can be placed in a memorial garden, and information from the charity will be available throughout the week in the main square in the Yumbo Centre.

FRIDAY 12TH MAY - 21:30 - 23:00
As in previous years, on the main stage in the Yumbo Centre on Friday evening, we will be presenting an International Drag Show Spectacular, featuring artists from across Europe, as well as a selection of the talent which performs every night of the week on the island

SATURDAY 13TH MAY - 16:00 - 20:30
This years parade promises to be the biggest yet in terms of the numbers taking part. The route has been amended to incorporate as many of the main gay venues as we are able. The new route will start at the southern end of the Ave. de Tirajana, close to the RIU Palace Hotel, moving up toward the Yumbo Centre and around it, and moving smoothly into a 2 hour dance session on the Ave. EEUU, at the top of the Yumbo Centre as happened last year.

SATURDAY 13TH MAY - 21:00 - 23:30
Gala Concert - Saturday night will see the finale concert for Pride week, on the main stage in the Yumbo Centre. This will be a spectacle of singing, and dancing, and promises to be a real show presentation, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display to mark the closing of the celebrations for Gay Pride in Maspalomas for 2006.

SUNDAY 14TH MAY 14:00 - 19:00
Another new addition to the programme for Pride 2006 will be an after pride chill out party at Annexo 2 – one of the nearby commercial centres, which will have access to all the outlets in the centre, exclusive use of their pool and access to the beach, and a chilled out dance session – a chance to wind down after a busy week! This event will be by ticket again, with pre booking available here by e-mail to ( Glay-GC@hotmail.com ) or by registering at the G.L.A.Y. office underneath the main stage in the Yumbo centre every day from the 1st of May between 5 and 8pm (8th and 9th of May till 10pm), at a cost of 5 euros if pre booked, or 7 euros on the door.
